Deciding that Barbra’s idea wasn’t that bad she shared it with Remy. It didn’t seem like he was really listening. He had gone really quiet. She could understand, in the last two days his father had suffered a stroke and he had discovered that the empire his family had ruled for so many years was worth nothing.
“You know there is something else you could do for me.” He said, crossing the room and taking Kendra into his arms. Knowing that Remy needed an escape from all their troubles, she was more than willing to provide a distraction.

Afterward, as they lay on the living room floor, completely spent but happy.
Remy stroked her arm and knew that no matter what was to come, he was the luckiest man in the world.

Over the next few weeks Remy spent every waking moment at the office trying to come up with a solution to their money problems. Kendra rarely saw him except when she woke up in the night to find that he’d come home and crashed. Twice she had gotten up and undressed him when he fell asleep with his clothes on.
One night she came home to find Remy sitting on the couch with all the lights off.
“Are you okay?” She asked, knowing he wasn’t.
“Honestly, no. I’ve looked and looked for a solution but all I’ve come up with involves my property and trust fund. We really have no choice but to sell this place, with that money we can pay the bills for the estate. To cover the note, I’ll have to use my trust fund. That leaves us with nothing when it’s all over.”
“Oh, Remy. I’m so sorry.” She said, sitting down next to him. “I know how much you love this place. Maybe you could just lease it.” She said, trying to soften the blow.
“I thought about that but it we need a quick infusion of a lot of cash and this place will sell in a second.”
“We’ll be okay, we still have my income and my apartment is just sitting there empty. You know it’s rent free as part of my contract with the restaurant. It’s not much, but we’ll have a place to stay.”

“I suppose that would be better than moving back in with my parents. You know what really has me worried?” He turned to her and she could see what looked like fear in his eyes.
“I’ve been over the books three times and there is no way we can continue the way we have been. The business has been slowly going downhill, and I just don’t see how to turn things around. Running this business was all I ever planned to do. If it’s gone, so is the money.”
“Did you ever think that maybe the money shouldn’t be your biggest concern? I thought you told me that you had decided you hated the shipping business. Have you changed your mind?” She pointed out.
“Well, that true but…” He didn’t finish, thinking about her words.
“It’s just something to think about. You were already looking for someone to take over, why should that have changed?” She said.
