Chapter 4

Remy’s apartment was not what she expected. It was filled with antiques but not the gaudy pieces so commonly seen in Paris. Instead, they were pieces that were beautiful as well as comfortable.  It was clear that he spent time in his home and had a love of comfort. The couch in the living room was big enough to sleep on, with plush velvet cushions, which promised comfort. His television was mounted on the wall opposite the couch but the rest of the room was all windows, offering a spectacular view of Paris.

Kendra followed Remy into the kitchen, a wonder of chrome and glass. The cabinets were glass fronted and perfectly organized, a fact Kendra appreciated. The double refrigerator matched the stove and dishwasher in perfect chrome elegance. One entire wall was filled with several ovens and an indoor grill. In Kendra’s mind she had died and gone to heaven. Never had she imagined such a kitchen in a private home.

Remy explained that when he had bought the place the kitchen had just been part of the deal. He hadn’t really cared about even having one, his parties were always catered and he didn’t cook for himself then. Now he was happy that the kitchen was here. It had every gadget and utensil a gourmet cook could ever need.

They decided to make omelets, which were quick and easy. Kendra chopped some onions, green peppers and mushrooms, while Remy shredded cheese and got the eggs ready. There was fresh squeezed juice in the fridge and wonderful croissants from the corner patisserie to round out the meal.

Remy suggested they take their food to the balcony to watch the sunrise while they ate. When Kendra stepped through the door, what she saw took her breath away. The balcony ran the entire length of the building and was about 6 feet wide. Its size was exceptional but that was not the most striking thing. Every available space was filled with something green. There were pots and planters from one end to the other.

Right in the middle was the most adorable swing. It was big enough to lie down on, the cushions deep and soft. Remy led her to the swing, carrying both their plates. Once seated the view of the building next door was obscured by three huge lemon trees, complete with dozens of ripe lemons. The sky was just beginning to lighten as they ate their omelets in silence.

The balcony was a restful place to be. With the plants creating the impression that you were all alone in the world. Kendra found herself beginning to relax, it had been a fun evening but she had worked a full shift that day and exhaustion was beginning to set in.

Remy took their plates to the kitchen, then joined her in the swing once again. The sun was just beginning to crest over the lemon trees. The silence had been comfortable while they had been eating but now Kendra was very aware of how close Remy was. She could feel the heat of his leg where it pressed against hers.

Remy took her hand and brought it to his mouth, kissing her palm, sending shivers of desire coursing through her body. She understood that he was asking a silent question. In lieu of an answer, she threaded her finger through his thick dark hair and pulled him down into a kiss.

Making their way to the bedroom was a little difficult since Remy didn’t want to let go of Kendra, afraid this amazing woman was just a dream. The power of their love making had been incredible. Never had he felt anything like that before, if truth be told he could take her again right now. But he knew how exhausted she was, so they snuggled down into his big bed and fell asleep.
