“For now. Give me a couple of hours and then meet me back here.”

She got to her feet gracefully and made to leave. “This company has a lot of potential to do great. It is also the backbone of a lot of unfortunate people. I hope you have no intention of getting rid of it in the future.”

“We will see.” He nodded briefly, his face not showing what he was thinking.

left and closed the door behind her. She stood there for a moment doing her best to ignore the secretary’s curious look. With a lift of her chin she headed back to her office to finish her work.

“Are you hungry?” he asked her abruptly as he got to his feet. “I am feeling pizza right now. How about you?”

She looked up from the documents she had been going through and nodded. They had been working non-stop for the past three hours and she saw to her surprise that it was almost eight.

“Good.” He nodded and reaching for his phone he dialed a number and made the order. “How about stopping for a little bit?” He stretched his hands above his head as he looked down at her. “I think I saw a bottle of red wine here somewhere.” He went to the cabinet and brought it out with two plastic cups. “Sorry about the container, but at least it is reasonably good wine,” he murmured as he stared at the label. “Good year too.” He poured her some and brought it to her.

“Thanks.” stretched her legs out to work the kinks out. To her consternation he came and sat next to her. “Tell me about yourself.”

“Why?” she queried. “I am sure you have read my personal file.”

“I have but it is just the basic details. Age, date of birth, address, and your job description. The photo on the file does not do you justice,” he added with a grin.

“I am not much into taking pictures.”

“Really?” he asked her softly. “You look very photogenic to me.”

She twisted around to look at him. “I am not into flirting with the boss either.”

“Who is flirting?”

She moved away a little and sipped the wine. “I live alone and my mother lives in the UK. I am an only child and my dad died when I was four years old. I am a workaholic who gets the work done.”

“Good to hear.” He sipped his wine, his blue eyes taking in her slim curves. “I am not the enemy here. I am aware that people have the consensus in thinking that we are. Collins is a company who sees an opportunity and goes for it.”

“Even if it means ruining other people’s lives.”

“We certainly do no set out to do so.” He got to his feet and went to the window. “Communications Link has the potential to be a great company if run properly.”

“Which you intend to do.”

“As much as possible. Ah, here is the pizza! Let’s eat and get back to work.”
