“Really? I never imagined that we’ll be sitting here together, let alone live here. My mom used to say that this house had some real power. It apparently made everyone inside it happy. I didn’t believe that especially after her death. But now I see the truth behind her words,” she told him resting her head against his shoulder.
“I believe her, too. I haven’t felt like this in ages…”
“Tom?” Bella asked him.
“Yes, dear?”
“I’m asking seriously now. What are you going to do about New York? Your whole life is there. Your work, house, cars… Everything. How will you run the job, hmm? Here… You can’t bring your company here with you,” she said, lifting her head up to look at him.
Thomas took a breath in and then let it out. He fondled her hair, his eyes fixed somewhere on the wall. It was obvious that he was a bit worried, yet he did everything to conceal that.
“You know you can tell me,” Bella insisted.
“I told you. I don’t need the company anymore. The cars, buildings… Everything you mentioned is worthless without you. Besides, I arranged it all before we came here. I’ll occasionally go to the city if anything is urgent and then back here. Don’t worry about it. I…” Thomas began but was interrupted.
“So I’m worthless, too, huh?” another voice asked.
“John! What are you doing here, mate?” Thomas rose on his feet in utter bewilderment. “I thought I left you in New York.”
John wore a silly smile on his face and it seemed like he was very uncomfortable. “Umm… I came to…”
“Johnny! Right in time! I was just making coffee.” Amy appeared from the kitchen and ran to the newcomer. She hugged him planting a kiss on his cheek.
“What’s happening here? Are we missing something?” Bella asked, smiling. Apparently a lot has happened between her best friend and Thomas’ since the wedding.
John shyly greeted Thomas, hugged Bella, and went to sit on the armchair, while Amy took one of the chairs from the dining room and brought it next to him.
“Right. We’re listening!” Thomas folded his arms across his chest and winked at Bella. He enjoyed the situation very much.
“John and I…” Amy began.
“We are together,” John added, cracking his fingers. So Bella and Thomas’ suspicions came true.
“We were texting each other, Skyping, and then John came here for a weekend and that’s how it all began!” Amy excitedly announced throwing a glance at John. They looked so cute together and Bella was so glad to see her best friend happy.
Thomas shifted in his seat smiling. He at once began clapping. Bella joined in. “Congrats, mate! Well done! I hope you have as bright future as ours,” he said looking at Bella.
“I hope so, too,” John replied catching Amy’s hand in his.
“Then I believe a celebration is in order. This house is longing for one for so many years!” Bella rose on her feet dragging Thomas’ hand.
“Where are you taking me now?” he teased her.

“You didn’t think that I’ll do everything in the kitchen by myself, did you? You have to get used to where the stuff stand. I expect lots of delicious meals from you,” Bella told him playfully.
“Ouch, Thomas! I can’t wait to taste your meals too,” John joked and Thomas threw a cushion at him laughing.
“You’ll see! All of you. I’m not as inexperienced around the stove as you think.” He followed Bella into the kitchen. He took one of the aprons hanging next to the door and tied it.
He looked so devoted and cute that Bella couldn’t resist him. She couldn’t help it but think how good a dad he would be. She leaned closer and laid a kiss on his lips while he circled her middle with his strong hands. They didn’t know what destiny would bring to them next, but they were ready as hell.
The end.
