Chapter 9

Aiden looked around the dark bar. He knew Tina was around somewhere as her Prius was parked out front. He’d stopped by her place, with John but found that she’d already walked Arnie. There was a note on the table, telling him where to meet her if he came by; Aiden had snorted, caught of guard. He’d continued ‘walking John’ in her neighborhood almost every evening. Sometimes they ended up at The Scarlet Co*k, other times they just went straight home. Seemed like today Tina had gone ahead without him.

Aiden scanned the room, there were a few patrons at the bar and several people were scattered between the booths and tables. He noticed there was a back room, and he could see several pool tables and hear a game of pool going on. He figured Tina would be back there, trying to live on the wild side; like she did.

As Aiden approached the back room he heard Tina’s laugh, the laugh he recognized as Tina’s drunk laugh, followed by Tina saying, “Noooo ‘m waiting for my date to get here.” Aiden could tell Tina was already pretty smashed, and seeing as how Tina had an impressive alcohol tolerance Aiden figured she had to have already had several shots.

Aiden paused just outside the door way, not really feeling guilty that he was listening to what Tina was saying. He leaned up against the wall, with one foot resting against it, making it appear he was standing there waiting rather than spying on his girlfriend.

“Well, I don’t see him so maybe it’s his loss,” A woman’s voice said.

Aiden heard Tina laugh and say, “Nah…’m not waitin’ on no random date… ‘M waitin’ on my boyfriend.”

Aiden’s heart skipped a beat, Tina had never referred to him as her boyfriend in public before. It kind of made him feel surprisingly good that Tina had said that. He actually liked the sound of that. My boyfriend.

Aiden heard the girl almost whine and reply, “Aww really? Damn why are all of the perfect girls taken and not gay?” Aiden could not make out what Tina’s response was because someone walking by was talking loudly into their phone.

“So how long have you guys been dating?” The woman asked Tina. Aiden heard someone hit a pool ball, and it sounded like three or four balls had made it to the pocket. He figured Tina was playing the girl and obviously winning.

“Well…been wit Aiden a while… almost six months. Took awhile to get to where we are but..” Tina trailed off and Aiden strained to hear what she was saying. Aiden looked at his watch, he should probably just go back there and let Tina know he was here, but he figured Tina was still playing and he really wanted to see what Tina had to say about them, even if it was to a complete stranger. Tina never really opened up to anyone about anything and maybe with her being drunk she might actually say some things Aiden had always wondered but could never work up the nerve to actually ask Tina.

“You love him, a lot. I can tell.”

Aiden heard Tina laugh a little and say, “Mmm yeah. Aiden’s my life. Love him more than anything.” Aiden smiled, he was having a hard time believing Tina was openly admitting these things to a total stranger but it felt good to hear her say it.

“So you guys going to get married?” Aiden heard a pool stick hit the floor. He smiled and imagined the look on Tina’s face.

Tina sighed, “It’s…I dunno, complicated…I know I want to be with only him for the rest of my life but…umm I don’t know…I don’t think he…”

Aiden chewed on his lip and thought, Yeah it is pretty complicated, what with the age thing, the fact of his parent’s expectations, probably also the race thing… Aiden had never thought of marriage before. He knew he would never be happy with anyone other than Tina, and while the idea of Tina wanting something like that made him feel a sudden tingling in his chest and a flutter in his stomach, he did not need a piece of paper to know that they both wanted the same thing – to be with each other and no one else forever.

Aiden was tired of standing there and he wanted to spend time with Tina. He took a deep breath, suddenly he was strangely nervous. Aiden walked around the corner and when he saw Tina he felt a rush of heat through his body. Tina was wearing a short black skirt suit. Her jacket was off, a scarf was loosened around her neck and the top two buttons of her shirt were undone. The shirt fit snug around Tina’s ample bust and he could faintly see the curve of her torso when she moved to the side. The sleeves of her shirt were rolled up and Aiden could see her shapely arms straining against the material. Tina had her back to Aiden and was bending over to take the last shot of her pool game, her perfect ass sending all of the blood rushing straight to Aiden’s di*k.

Aiden tried to lick his lips but his tongue suddenly felt like sandpaper. Tina knocked the eight ball into the corner pocket and smiled. The girl handed her a fifty, “Damn you are perfect in every way. Aiden’s a lucky guy.”

Aiden walked up behind Tina, who still had not seen him. “Yeah, he is pretty lucky,” Tina said, grinning.

“Yeah?” Aiden said, laughing when Tina jumped at his response. To Aiden’s complete surprise Tina ran her hand down Aiden’s face. “Yeah… but I’m even luckier.”

Tina pulled Aiden’s face down slightly and kissed him. Not just a quick kiss on the lips, a full out passionate kiss. Aiden could feel his heart hammering in his chest. Tina never was one to indulge in any kind of PDA ever, but Tina did get extremely flirty and grabby when she was drunk.

“Awww! Oh my God you guys are so adorable! You make the cutest couple, and you know you probably make a lot of people jealous.” Aiden looked up and saw the girl Tina had been talking to, a petite brunette wearing a tight low cut shirt and short shorts.

Tina grinned and said, “Yeah…this is my Aiden…told you he was fu*king hot.” Aiden felt his face turn red and could hardly believe Tina was saying these things.

Tina turned to Aiden and said, “I’m gonna go grab some drinks…go find us a booth or something. You gonna actually drink?” Aiden hadn’t planned on getting sh*t faced like Tina obviously wanted to, but he may as well have a few drinks since Tina was already happily drunk.

Aiden nodded, “Uh yeah sure… I don’t care, get me whatever.” A smile spread across Tina’s face and Aiden knew he had made a mistake. He was sure if Tina did not bring back an entire bottle that she would at least be bringing back several shots.

Tina leaned in and whispered into Aiden’s ear, “Ohh baby we are gonna have so much fun tonight.” Tina kissed Aiden again, her mouth tasting like whiskey. Tina squeezed Aiden’s ass and turned to the girl saying, “Thanks for keeping me company…it was fun.”

The girl nodded and smiled. “Sure…bye Tina.” She watched Tina walk away, smiling slightly before she turned to Aiden.

As soon as Tina was at the bar ordering drinks the girl looked at Aiden and said, “You’re lucky. That girl is crazy in love with you…and damn she is pretty lucky too, look at you guys.”

Aiden felt his face blush and nodded. The girl turned to walk away and stopped, saying, “I know I am just you know…some random girl you do not know but…what you have, most people are not ever that lucky. You should marry her. She thinks you would never want something like that, and I don’t know what… you know, what you think about it but… the way she talks about you, the way she lights up… that is something so rare, you need to hold on to it.” Aiden nodded again, at a total loss for words. To hear someone say about Tina exactly what he felt towards her felt so good.

“Yeah, I know… thanks.” Aiden smiled and the girl walked out of the bar.

Aiden noticed a few small booths in the corner of the back room. The only two people in the room were a young couple in the first booth. The woman was on the man’s lap and they were making out, totally oblivious to the world. The front room seemed more crowded and bright so Aiden sat down in the booth furthest back.
