It made her feel worthy of attention and she admired his perseverance. She wished Damon was around when she needed a prom date in high school but no one asked her so she opted not to go and missed out on one of the rites of passage for teens. Damon finally walked over to her with the frozen treats in hand, no wonder the place was crowded it was a hot summers day and already the ice cream had begun to melt. He handed her a cone and she thanked him graciously while she accepted her cone, she was aware that his fingers seemed to linger a bit longer than necessary.

For the first in a long time she was glad that he was getting a bit bolder in his handling of her. She in no way objected to the feel of his hands against hers like that. In deed she even welcomed his affection as she couldn’t help but smile at him. His touch was light and gentle, not offensive in any manner. She wouldn’t be surprised if someone said he could heal broken auras, just being in his presence put her at ease. It was soothing, warm even affectionate with the darting glances of appreciation he gave her when he thought she wasn’t paying attention. She couldn’t help but wonder if he was really the man she needed to chase away the empty cobwebs of her love life.

“You eat your ice cream the same way my grandmother used to eat hers with a little nibble here and there.”

He laughed and as if it registered he sobered up a bit, “Used to?” he asked.

She hesitated. “My grandmother died five years ago but it still feels like yesterday,” she said sadly. His hand moved to quickly catch a stray drop of cream that rolled down her jaw as she spoke.

“I’m sorry to hear that,” he said sympathetically.

She took a baby wipe from her purse, wiped her face and then his hands. The move reeked of an intimacy that had not been there before as they both fell into silence. His dark hand caught hers again but not like before this time it gently squeezed her in reassurance that she no longer had to be alone again.

If only he himself was an artist he would want to paint the lovely picture that she presented before him. Even in her work clothes she appeared dainty and ethereal like a slight wind could just blow her away. He was tempted to buy her even more ice cream just to fatten her up but he banished the thought, she was beautiful as is and needed no cosmetics to bring out her natural beauty. She had on a cream white and blue work dress that clung to her shape. Its classical lines did nothing to hide her tantalizing curves. It only accentuated and enhanced them more. With the heat she kept her long black hair in a neat pony tail.

Her baby hair curled up around the hair line and she paused every now and again to make sure every strand was in place as she didn’t want any hair falling into her ice cream. She really loved ice cream with a passion. She took each bite slowly and savored it. She wasn’t in any rush for it to end. He loved watching her tongue as it licked and darted in a circular motion to encompass the width of the cone. He felt like he was in heaven and wouldn’t have missed that day for anything. He loved how she used her lips to work the ice cream cone down to the end to get at the chocolate filled tip.

He couldn’t help the s*xual innuendos that ran through his mind. He was with her now but the words remained unspoken between them. Soon both their ice cream was finished but neither wanted anymore of the deliciously sweet treat. She felt like their evening was drawing to a close and she didn’t want it to end. She liked being in his company and she didn’t feel pressured to make conversation and she enjoyed the fact that they could just sit in companionable silence.

“Thank you very much for a great evening,” she said.

“You are most welcome,” he replied. He glanced at his watch maybe it was for the best anyways he only had thirty minutes before his chauffeur came to collect him. It was still enough time to escort Trina home.

He felt himself walking beside Trina with a spring in his step. He had met many lovely women before Trina but none had ever left him feeling this alive. It was a refreshing change from the depression he lived with since last year after he bitterly broke up with his last girlfriend. Trina lit a fire to his soul that was remarkable and unprecedented. He didn’t know the first thing about her but he wanted to secure her hand and declare his feelings to the world. Damon struggled a lot in the past with one sided affairs and hoped this would turn out nothing like the last. Trina was young, healthy beautiful and strong and based on what he had seen in the park she also loved children. He was pretty confident that he could be generous and give her a few of her own to love.

Clearly he hadn’t wanted the date to come to an end any more than she had. Get a grip on yourself she thought mentally. Let’s not forget you have a sh*tload of housework waiting for you when you get home. Sometimes she wished Alexis would pull more of her weight around the house but praise the Lord for small mercies for Alexis always managed to pay her rent on time. Which when accompanied by her small paycheck she collected at the end of every month somehow always managed to cover the property tax and the other necessary bills.

Trina waited patiently for Alexis to come home. Damon had left about two hours ago and she managed to accomplish a lot around the house but it felt like it was never clean enough. As much as she had enjoyed sitting on the bench with Damon. She had enjoyed what happened on the front porch with him as he waited on the chauffeur to come even more. It had all happened so innocently, a freak gust of wind blowing dirt in her eyes. His offer to examine her eye to see if anything was in their after she exclaimed that something had flown into her eyes. She would have sworn that Damon had the gift of healing as he blew lightly into her eyes and she felt instant relief, whatever was stuck came out instantly.
