Her cell vibrated, jarring her out of her reverie. She had put it on vibrate while she had been in session with Dr. Benjamin. It was Alexis her loyal friend and roommate, they shared an apartment together, separate bedrooms of course with their individual bathrooms but everything else was shared, for example the kitchen and living room. It was a Friday night and Trina had not too long come in from work. She had just sat down on the edge of her bed, kicked off her high heels that she had spent hours walking up and down the stairs at work for three quarters of her day and her feet were killing her.
Trina had just finished rolling down her sheer nylon stockings when her cell phone rang out. It was her best friend Alexis, she wasn’t the type to be ignored and would call her phone from sun up until sun down waiting for Trina to pick up. At least she knew that if she ever went missing for more than 24hrs her friend would have plastered her pictures all over social media until she was found. For just like any other typical Friday night the only date that Trina had was one where she was tucked in nice and warm in her own bed.
“Hey Alexis.”
“That was quick Trina, normally you leave your phone in your handbag, and I have to call like five times before you answer.”
“Sheesh… You sound like my mom, stop exaggerating, lucky for you I had my cell right beside me on the bed, instead of the bottom of my handbag somewhere in our apartment. You are like the only person that calls it so much anyways, with the exception of my boss.”
“If you spent less time daydreaming and more time socializing, people would actually call your phone more often. I swear you are worse than a hermit sometimes.
“Easy for you to say, I work from 8am to 5pm shift, that’s a full day not like a certain self-employed person that I happen to be speaking to right now that can set their own hours. When I come home from a full day’s work I’m exhausted and there is a ton of chores here to do, who has time to socialize. I certainly don’t. Speaking of chores would it hurt you so much to pick up a broom and sweep? If I don’t do it, it never gets done. ”
Alexis deliberately ignored the latter, doing household chores just wasn’t her thing. If money wasn’t so tight they would have hired a maid. “Do you think I stay here doing nothing all day, I set my own hours yes, but I have projects and if I don’t complete them on schedule I don’t get paid. This argument is lame and it always ends in a stalemate, that’s not the reason I called you anyways.”
“Alrighty, what’s up?”
“A client of mine fell ill last minute and has tickets for two that she doesn’t want to go to waste, would you like to go with me?”
“What’s the catch?”
“Don’t you trust me?” She laughed. “The only catch is that it is for tonight.”
“Is it for a concert, who’s performing?”
“No it not a concert, guess again, it’s…”
“It’s for a game, maybe basketball or football. You know I don’t keep up with that stuff, which sides are playing?”
“Will you stop interrupting and let me explain.”
“Ha-ha, sorry go right ahead before you explode with excitement.”
“These are limited edition tickets to Vespucci’s Annual Art Gala, it is an annual event that caters to the elite of the Art world, celebrities, politician, world renown artists will be in attendance, it’s very hard to score these tickets this is an opportunity of a life time and I want you to come with me.”
“I’m always keen on supporting you Alexis but it sounds rather boring and I don’t really know much about art. I’d be more of a nuisance than a help to you under those circumstances.”
“I had a feeling you would say something like that, let’s not forget you owe me big time.”
“Ughhh don’t remind me, what’s in it for me?”
“Five star cuisine and your favorite brand of wine’s company will be sponsoring the event.”
“Well in that case count me in, you know I can’t say no to free Bellagio Wine. What’s the dress code?”
“Formal wear duh, think glamour and glitz, weren’t you listening earlier when I mentioned all the important and wealthy patrons of the art world will be there. I cannot impress upon you how as my plus one you need to be on your best behavior.”
“Chill out Alexis, when have I ever done you wrong, maybe if you stop freaking out and relax you would be able to actually have fun for a change.”
“Look who’s talking, I go out on more dates than you these days. This is not fun for me this is work, here I have a chance to meet new influential people and talk business.”

“Suit yourself but what do you need me there for?”
“You are my worker bee that’s gonna grab their attention and draw them to me like a bear after honey.”
Trina giggled. “That’s sounds so wrong. I should charge you for trying to pimp me out.”
Alexis chuckled. “Anyhoo got to run. I’ve got a next potential client to chat with so be ready by 8pm it starts at 9pm and it’s a decent drive. I don’t want to be late and miss a thing.”
“Okay then, catch you later hun.”
