“That’s not true.”

“Admit it, you have spent hours Googling him and looking him up on Facebook. Distrust of him was evident from the start, you kept him on a pedestal always intently watching for any inconsistencies that would show his true colors.”

“Damon is not perfect.”

“Neither are you.”

“Okay Alexis. You have made your point I had already decided to give Damon a fair chance anyways.”

Next year I will turn thirty and he will be forty seven, thought Trina. If I met him in a nightclub and not where he shines in his element she would doubt that he would have appealed to her. I generally don’t date older men and she would have never gone for the artsy type before. We basically have nothing in common but a baby from a one night stand. He is plain looking and most women would not consider his hawkish features attractive outside his obvious wealth. She had never been a gold digger, she believed in working for all she got. Damon loved spending money on her, sending her fancy gifts such as perfume and lingerie that has remained unopened. He needed to understand that he needed to appeal to her mind and not her body.

Showering her with money is not the way to get to her heart. Money is fickle and she needed to know that should it dry up he had the determination to succeed and not just always rely on his inheritance. Trina would admit that what had attracted her the most to him was personality. The fact that when he entered a room all the clouds disappeared and the place came alive. When he talked about the things he was passionate about she couldn’t help but feel caught up in the moment with him. They are both single and lonely. However, she didn’t want to just settle for the first available man that came along either. Granted she broke some of the rules by sleeping with him early on in the relationship. Men don’t normally take one night stands seriously she hadn’t expected him to be any different but he surprised her by wanting more than she was prepared to give.

Trina was floored by his taking an active interest in her life, his obvious need to be constantly checking on her making sure that she was alright. Trina half loved half hated his over-protectiveness but she knew it was his way of letting her know how much he cared for her. She had to be absolutely sure that her feelings for him were real and not because of her fear of ending up alone. Or not because her biological clock had been ticking, getting pregnant hadn’t been part of the plan it just happened. The fact that he wanted children of his own as well helped to take away the sting of it.

She wasn’t used to having such a good man in her life. Having feelings for a guy she just met felt weird. She worried about her sanity. Trina spent every waking moment trying to rationalize all those feelings she had for Damon and why she walked out on him. When he tried to talk to her after she sneaked out of his party she felt so stupid and guilty for actions all she wanted to do was avoid him at all costs. Rather than be confronted she chose the cowardly way out by hiding from him, see how far that got her. She walked out on him yet he still wanted to be with her. Most men would not have been able to toss aside their pride as casually as he had for a woman who didn’t even seem to return his feelings why he persevered in getting to her, she hadn’t known and was too afraid to ask.
