Chapter 6
Phoebe waited up for hours after she finished her dinner for Lincoln to show up. It was close to nine when she realized how tired she was. She showered and had her robe on, but as soon as she sat down on the bed she passed out exhausted. Her phone ringing was the only noise she could hear as she woke up about an hour after her little nap. It was close to eleven when she answered. “Hello?”
“Hey, Phoebe, listen. I’m sorry. I know it’s late, but I’ve been knocking on your door for a while now. I can come back in the morning if you want,” Lincoln said.
Phoebe hopped out of bed. “No, that’s okay, I’m coming. I was in my bedroom and didn’t hear the door. I’m sorry.”
Phoebe opened the door in a hurry forgetting that all she had on was her robe and it was gaping open. Her perky bre*sts with their dark areolas beckoned to be su*ked and nibbled on while her firm flesh between her legs looked plump and ready to be kissed. Lincoln swallowed hard as he eyed her up and down before turning away. “Um, your robe.”
Phoebe suddenly felt the breeze blowing in, realizing that she was flashing him. The cheeks on her face heated with embarrassment as she pulled her robe shut and told Lincoln to come inside. “I’m sorry. I completely forgot.”
Lincoln stepped inside trying to hide his satisfaction of seeing her in the buff. She offered him something to eat which he declined. He couldn’t stop staring at her. He wouldn’t stop imagining his tongue tasting every inch of her body. His eyes wandered all over her physique until they reached her hazel eyes.
“So are you going to tell me what’s going on or keep trying to see through my robe?” Phoebe chuckled.
Lincoln sighed as his mood shifted slightly. This was hard for him to talk about and he didn’t want to address it. He wanted to pretend like none of it was happening, but it was. They sat down at her kitchen table where Phoebe listened to Lincoln, “So as a kid doing TV shows, movies, commercials, all of it, you’re around a lot of adults. My parents were so money hungry that they never turned down a part for me. No matter how big or how small the role was, if I was called in, they made sure I went and that I got the part. Most of the time, they would just send me places to shoot or audition with my agent at that time. Doing all of that doesn’t leave you much time to be a kid and do kid stuff, you know?”
Phoebe nodded, doing her best to stay silent while he opened up to her. Lincoln continued, “I was alone with adults… a lot.” He began to hesitate, uncomfortable with what he had to say, but he kept going. “There were some times when people would throw parties for kids in the industry. But, even then there were still adults around and they would leave drugs and alcohol around for us. It was a crazy time for me. I was young and didn’t know any better. I would drink and get high. So what it’s come down to is some of the stuff I did would ruin my image and possibly my career. I’m being blackmailed, Phoebe. The guy doing it is an asshole, but like I told you before I’m going to take care of personally so you don’t have to worry about it anymore. I went to rehab and everything. I don’t want to risk being taken down that path again and I know I’m not ready for the public to know everything that I’ve been through. It would send me spiraling.”

Phoebe touched the top of Lincoln’s hand, forcing him to look into her eyes. “Okay. You don’t have to tell me anything more than that. I understand and I will back off to give you time to fix it. You want something to eat?”
Lincoln’s eyes narrowed in on Phoebe’s bre*sts as a nip*le peeked out from behind the robe. “Sure.” he said. Phoebe prepared him a quick plate of leftovers and poured herself a glass of wine. They spent the next few hours talking to each other as if they were old friends who’d just lost touch. It was amazing to her to see how fast and how easy it was to connect to him. Lincoln truly was just a nice guy. He got caught up in a lifestyle he didn’t necessarily choose and now he was paying through the nose for it. They continued talking about random things, their families, her childhood, and before they knew it, it was almost three in the morning.
“It’s really late,” Phoebe said. “You can crash here if you want. I have an extra bedroom. It’s no suite at the MGM, but it’s comfortable and clean.”
“Okay, lead the way,” Lincoln said as Phoebe showed him around the rest of her home. The extra bedroom was across the hall from hers and had its own bathroom. It wasn’t as big as his condo, but it was nice. It had a welcoming feel that Lincoln appreciated. “This place has a homey feeling to it. I like that. It’s not often I can step into another person’s space and feel so comfortable. Thank you, Phoebe, for everything.”
Lincoln touched her hand lightly as he set his stuff down on a chair in the bedroom. Phoebe was wishing that he’d made a move like the other night when they were in her kitchen, but nothing. So she left him in the room to get ready for bed and found herself in her own room wishing that he was in there with her. She’d closed the door and took off her robe.
