Dean stood up and took her hand so that she, too, could follow suit. Dean was slightly taller than her, but they were standing at eye-level now. He put a finger to her mouth for her to shut up with the objections and to just embrace and live in the moment.

He leaned toward her and she did as well. She felt his eyelashes fondling her cheeks and kissed her gently at first and then he slipped his tongue, exploring her mouth, connecting with each other.

“I,” he broke the kiss and kissed her again.

“Love…” He kissed her left cheek.

“You…” Her right cheek.

“So much.” His lips found their place on her forehead and she smiled.

“Say it again!” She chuckled.

“I love you to the moon and back, Raina. I love you eternally and will love you to the rest of my life.” He kissed her again with his hands pressing her face. That sent chills down her spine.

The park was amazingly chilly that afternoon. And Raina couldn’t believe the sight that was spreading before her eyes. Everything was covered in snow. Snow! The single thing she liked most about the winter and the Christmas holidays. The naked trees were now white ballet dancers who were caught in the middle of their dance. The benches were cotton-white beds like the ones encountered in storybooks and fairytales. But the best thing was the lake. It was partly frozen, but not completely, preventing the kids from taking out their sleighs and skates.

Raina and Dean were walking down the lane, their breaths turning into smoke the moment they left their lips. She had put on a long coat, mittens, a cap and a woolen scarf. Dean was wearing the same. The cap looked extremely cute on him and Raina could squeal from sweetness. She would eat him right there and then.

They finally spotted a free bench that was at the same time obliterated of snow and headed toward it. After they sat, they were silent, taking in the whole environment and spending the time shutting down their loud thoughts.

“So, what are we going to do about it?” Dean spoke, shifting his look from the lake to her.

“What do you mean?” She was puzzled.

“Us. Our relationship. What is next?” His jaw tensed.

“I really have no idea. We are pressed between the public and our feelings. It is the worst thing ever.” A deep sigh tore from Raina’s chest.

“Yes, it is. But you have to suggest something, because I can’t live like this any longer! I think I will burst in any second.” His face grew serious, his eyes held feelings that made them glassy. She was saddened. Two poor souls couldn’t be with each other.

Then an idea came to her mind. It almost fled from before her eyes, but she managed to catch it and take a strong hold of it. “Under wraps!”

“What?” She now caught his attention.

“We keep it private, under wraps. No public appearances, no holding hands in public, no kissing, no hugging, nothing. We will evade the press and the paparazzi like that, but in the same time we can remain intimate in my place or in a hotel where we would go separately.”

Dean was looking at her and only blinking. He was grasping everything she was telling him as Raina could almost see his thoughts fathoming in his mind. “Wow! You really are a great fixer.”

“Thanks,” she said and chuckled.

“It’s a great idea, when you seriously think about it. The only problem, however…”

“What is the only problem?” Raina’s hands were in her lap.

“How long will it last,” Dean spoke, “I don’t know how long we will be able to hide this. I barely resist to get my hands on you right now.” He smiled and she did, too. Yes. That presented a real issue.

“We can go by this plan and see how it goes, huh? It will not be an eternity. Just for a short amount of time.”

“How short? If we start this, who knows how long it will take us until we make everything official…”

Silence again. It was eerie – two people standing so close next to each other were deciding their fate, contemplating their thoughts.

“Well, something is better than nothing, right?” She took his hands into hers. “Our relationship must continue. It was enough sacrificing for others and their opinions, don’t you think?”

“Yeah, it was.” Dean nodded. His thumb fondled her soft skin.

Suddenly, his eyes caught something behind her and he stood up with a wide grin. Raina’s look followed him and stopped on a man pushing a trolley with sweet stuff. She giggled.

She was looking at him, taking several lollipops in his hands with bags of candy under his armpits. That made her laugh hysterically. They were discussing serious problems in one second and the next one, the kid in Dean Franklin woke up and craved some sweet.

He flopped back next to her with a red and white lollipop in his mouth.

“Want some?” He managed to speak before putting the lollipop back.

“Yeah! Definitely! What is life without some sweets?” She fumbled with the wrapper and finally her tongue met the tasty sugar. It made the saliva in her mouth increase.

“You like it?” He asked, putting a chocolate candy in his mouth and combining the tastes.

“Mhm.” She nodded doing the same.

They enjoyed the powerful mixture of sweet, forgetting about everything and anything. They let themselves float in the winds of life, realizing that life was too short to be spent alone and dissatisfied.

Then, Dean separated his lips from the lollipop and kissed hers.

Suddenly his phone buzzed. Without seeing who it was he pressed the red button and continued with his business.

The hotel room was huge and was described as the presidential suit. That had been enough for Dean and had booked it immediately when he came into the city to spend Christmas with his now new girlfriend.
