“So, are you going to tell me now? Or do I have to screw it out of you?” she asked.

“Not that what you said does not sound great but after the last forty minutes, I should probably get some fluids in me before we have a go at it again,” he said and she laughed. He reached for his laptop and brought up one of the editing screens. “I have been working on some of the scenes and I thought this song would be great for this scene,” he said as he played one of the love scenes in the project they had just concluded. It was the moment Lara had first realized her feelings for her love interest and it was also her first kiss in the film. She loved the scene and the music was simply perfect. But it took a while before she finally realized that it was a cello and not a violin as she had first thought.

“Is that a cello?” she asked and Guillaume nodded. “That’s Myka playing, isn’t it?”

“Yes and that is an original too,” he said. “I heard her playing when you guys first got here and when I asked her, she told me that she had been working on her own music but it was yet to come together.”

Lara shook her head.

“I didn’t even know she had started writing her own music,” she said.

“She only had a few bars but when I gave her that extra push she came through and this…” he shook his head. “This is simply magical. You King girls are mighty talented.”

Lara took a long deep breath as she listened to the music. It was like her sister was playing her heart.

“You know I like this song Chasing Cars,” she started and Guillaume nodded.

“Snow Patrol,” he said as he put his laptop aside.

“Yeah, you know it too?” she asked and he nodded. “It kind of feels the same way I feel when I hear it. All warm and fuzzy.”

“I used to say the day I find someone who finds the magic in that song will be the day I will have found my soul mate,” Guillaume said and she looked up at him. “And even though I saw the magic in you a long time ago, I didn’t want to do this before we wrapped up the project.”

Lara pulled away from him and pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear.

“I don’t know what you are going on about,” she said and he reached into his pocket. He was not sure if she knew what he was about to do. It was not like he had been hinting at anything in all that time he had been with her. But in his heart of hearts, he knew that this was the right thing to do. Mostly because he had never been in this position before. He had never had such strong feelings for a woman that he wanted to make a lifelong commitment to her. But with Lara, things were different. He could not imagine life without her.

“I love you Lara King,” he said as he pulled the small velvet box out of his pocket. “And I want to love you forever.”

“Guillaume, what are you doing?” she asked.

“I’m asking you to marry me, Lara. Because you complete me, Cherie.” He pulled himself up and got off the bed before kneeling on the side of the bed. “Will you marry me, Lara?”

Her lips were slightly parted as she tried speaking but all she did was utter a series of unintelligible sounds.

“Lara?” Guillaume asked as he looked at her. “I am going to need an answer soon because my knee feels a little dead right now.”

She looked at him and nodded as a tear rolled down her cheek.

“Yes,” she said in a soft voice. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”

He smiled and took the ring off the cushion.

“I hope you like it…I got an aquamarine princess cut stone surrounded by diamonds…you know, because you were born in March,” he explained and she nodded.

“It is perfect,” she said when he slipped the ring onto her finger.

“I got the size right, didn’t I?” he asked and she laughed nodding.

“You did,” she said as he got on the bed and gently wiped off the tear using his thumb before he kissed her softly.

“I know this was not romantic…I mean, no wine. No dinner….which is ironic because for a man known for romantic films you would expect a whole lot more, right?” he said and she shook her head.

“No, this was perfect,” she said. “In every sense of the word.”

She leaned her forehead against his and sighed.

“What’s wrong?” Guillaume asked and she exhaled loudly.

“Remember when I told you that my feelings for you scare me?” she asked and he nodded.

“Yeah. What about it?” he asked.

“I have never used the ‘L’ word on anyone save for maybe Myka and Ashley. And I have known you for less than three months,” she started. “And I am stoked that you want to spend the rest of your life with me but what about all the changes that all this will bring?” she asked.

“What changes?” he asked.

“I am not just plain old Lara anymore and you are not just any guy. You are a big shot director….who lives in France.” She shook her head. “I’m going to have to move here. Right?”

He shrugged.

“I would rather cross that bridge when we get to it,” he said as he looked at her. “And by the way, I have never loved anyone the way I love you. At least not enough to get them jewelry…not even a bracelet,” he added as he looked at her. “And besides, in a couple of days we will be leaving this place together and you and I can have some well-deserved vacation time in Hawaii maybe?” he asked and she nodded.

“That sounds great,” she said.

She gave him a quick kiss and stood up.

“Let me just tell Myka before you say anything, okay?” she asked and he nodded.

“Whatever you want,” he said and then raised an eyebrow when he saw her pulling the ring off. “And that?” he asked.

“It would be easier to have the conversation without the blinding rock on my finger. Don’t you think?” she asked and he nodded.
