Chapter 3

Phillip Jameson was a man on a mission. He drove straight from the airport to the country club to find out why Lo hadn’t returned any of his calls. He was a man obsessed. He couldn’t fathom why Lorraine would have lost interest so quick when things hadn’t even started between them. By God he deserved a fair chance to prove that he could be the man for her to spend the rest of her life with. She just needed to give him a chance to prove it. He hadn’t expected to find her so intriguing. He had wasted a vast amount of time digging up pictures of her on the internet during her pro days before she disappeared from the limelight. Rumors abounded but the most persistent ones were that her anorexia had affected her bone density. This topped with drugs, partying and a promiscuous lifestyle had taken its toll on her body and it eventually gave out. It landed her in a hospital for over six months and when she recovered from her coma, her parents moved her to a private clinic to get treatment for her anorexia and professional counseling.

Phillip gave a frustrated sigh. He hated to wait on people but the beefy security detail the country side club employed were not to be messed with. So he had no choice but to wait in the lounge and pray that Lo would grace him with her presence. He thought nonstop the entire time he was away. Could hardly concentrate on his work.

He finally found a woman who unwittingly stirred something deep inside him and he was determined to make her his. Whenever they were in each other’s presence there was a pull of attraction between them, he was pretty sure Lo felt it too. It made his caveman instincts come to the fore, he just wanted to claim her in front of the general public as his own. If so why was she avoiding him? Could he handle it if she didn’t want anything permanent when he was ready to settle down? He just wanted to taste her luscious lips connected to her soft, curvaceous body with those round ample bre*sts that called to him and stiffened in his presence. Phillip had no doubt in his mind that they would be good for each other.

“You’ve got a Phillip Jameson asking for you by the reception desk,” Verity said. She was the swim coach for the club. Lo peered over her shoulder and instinctively felt the need to hide, it was Phillip Jameson. Verity caught her reaction before Lo could hide her facial expression.

“Is he one of those stalker ex’s? I can have security escort him off the compound if you would rather not see him.” she offered. Lo shook my head.

“No. Please don’t it’s not like that, his visit is just unexpected that’s all. I just didn’t think he was serious about wanting to date me.”

“Why not Lo? You’re beautiful inside and out, any man would be happy to have you by their side.”

“I guess it’s just my insecurities.”

She nodded as if she understood completely. Then playfully shoved Lo in his direction.

“Go for it Lo, don’t leave that gorgeous hunk of a man standing there too long someone else might grab him up.” She shouted as Lo hurried over to meet Phillip. He looked like he stepped out of a GQ magazine. He stood patiently, occasionally glancing at his cell, silent and waiting. As if he sensed Lo’s presence he looked up at her and smiled.

“You look cute in your tennis outfit,” he said.

Lorraine didn’t reply at first at a loss of what to say then she muttered “thanks.”

“Jesus, Lo” he said. “You had me wondering all kinds of things when you wouldn’t answer you calls.”

“Why are you here?” Lo asked.

“I wanted to see you and make sure you were alright. I didn’t get a chance to talk to you before I left the country. I wasn’t even sure if you got my message.”

“Message? No I didn’t get any message.” I said.

Phillip shook his head. “Your phone rang repeatedly without an answer so I left a message on your voicemail. I had an emergency with one of my warehouses in another state so I had to leave before I could arrange our date.”

Lo shook her head in regret. “The whole time I was their thinking you weren’t seriously interested in me. You remember that cyberbully I had mentioned to you about at that party. They graduated to calling me mysteriously and hanging up or leaving voicemails where you only heard deep breathing. So I stopped answering private calls and deactivated my voicemail. Sorry about that.”

“I’m sorry, I haven’t been able to unmask whoever is behind that but I promise you that I have my best people working on it as a priority just bear with them please,” he pleaded.

“It just so frustrating, this whole damn situation is freaking me out,” Lo hissed.

“I know but this person is smart every time we lock out an account they create a new one and they do it from public hotspots so we can’t track them.” Phillip said.

Lo hung her head in despair. Phillip was her only hope at the moment in getting this fiasco resolved and she didn’t want to risk alienating him ahead of time.

“I can’t go out on a date with you Phillip,” Lo said finally.

“Why not?”

“There are things you don’t know about me. You’re better off dating someone else.”

“I don’t want anyone else. I want you,” he said softly.

“You can’t be serious.” Lorraine pleaded.

Phillip grinned. “Come and chill with me, Lo. We’ll go to one of my favorite spots and just talk.”

“That’s it. You just want to show me around the place. Nothing else?” She stiffened. His easy smile faded.

“No pressure Lo. Give me a chance to know the real you, that’s all I ask.”

She shouldn’t be thinking about dealing with him, much less entertaining him at a time when her life was so chaotic. Phillip didn’t seem like he was interested in anything more that building a friendship. Who was she trying to fool? Only herself no one else would believe that bit of ridiculousness, of course the man wanted her in his bed but what about out of it. He was extremely good looking but she had dated finer, richer men so what was it about Phillip that drew her to him like a moth to a flame. She felt turned on from the roots of her black hair to her painted toe nails whenever he looked at her like he wanted to do nothing more than strip her naked and have his way with her. She was a grown woman you would think by now she would be able to handle these kind of situations whenever they arose but in his presence she still felt like a virgin about to be touched for the very first time.

“All right you’ve convince me. I’d love to spend the next couple of hours with you.”

She had finally agreed to go out with him. Phillip had thought her worth the wait, he was a busy man and he came all this way to seek her out, which in itself spoke volumes about the man and what he thought about having her in his life. He thought she was worth it. Lorraine felt the pull like an invisible magnetic force, drawing them closer. Her body leaned into his remembering his mouth, his hands, thinking about all the things he could do to my body. He was intoxicating to be around and she wanted him badly.

Before she could change her mind she blurted out, “Just give me a few minutes to change into something more comfortable.”
