Phillip chuckled. “I’ll never leave you Lo. I swear. Love isn’t easy but together we will solve our problems and work it out as a team, and hopefully we’ll have many years to experience it all.”

“I hope we are not making a terrible mistake.”

“Why would yo think that?”

“We have only known each other a few months, everybody is gonna think we move too fast.”

“Since when do you care what everybody thinks?”

“I didn’t before you came into my life. Now I realize that whatever I do now my actions affect you as well and I don’t want to disappoint or embarrass you.” She looked miserable now when a few minutes ago she had been ridiculously happy. She splayed her hands across his chest while facing him, her expression one of sheer terror. Phillip thought long and hard about what she said and chose his words carefully. He didn’t like the wounded expression on her face like a deer caught in headlights.

He cupped her face again, his soft smile melted her heart and put her at ease when he said, “Don’t let what other people say affect us, especially since you’ve come out of your shell and finally started living. I believe we are meant for each other and never in a million years would I ever think I would get this lucky.”

She couldn’t believe her good fortune that this handsome man was all hers. He held her in his arms and lovingly caressed her body.

“I am the luckiest woman in the world.” She responded. He kissed her on the lips silently agreeing with her, and she reveled in the feeling that at last she had finally found her match. Every time they kissed it was sweeter than the first time.

Never in a million years did she think that she would have been proposed to while going on this ski trip with Phillip. It was just a way to escape her miserable life, who knew out of all that sorrow would come such joy. Now her future didn’t seem so uncertain or lonely with Phillip hanging around for life. She couldn’t believe it, he loved her, Loraine Whittle nothing else in the world mattered, she wanted to relive this moment for the rest of her life. Rosie eat your heart out Phillip Jameson is all mine. He leaned over to cup her face and kiss her lips tenderly, her heart beat rapidly in her chest, she felt like any second it could explode within her chest. He was soon kissing her with a passion that knew that no bounds.

When Lorraine woke up Phillip was already gone, she set about tidying up the room for in a few hours they would be leaving and heading home. There was lots to do and to think they stayed at a ski lodge and haven’t even gone skiing. Phillip promised her that they would be back so she had no regrets. She was gonna miss rolling around in the snow making angel shapes and building snowmen. The most fun experiences was when they split into two teams and had a snowball fight, her team beat Phillip’s and she was hoisted on their shoulders and cheer sprang up for the whole world to hear.

She finally emerged from the bedroom and the congratulations flooded out from the guys everyone was happy for them and she got hugs, kisses and pats on the back. Everyone offering her advice and letting her know that if Phillip ever got out of hand all she had to do was call them and they would set him back on the right track. She told them not to expect a call anytime soon she had the utmost faith that Phillip would treat her well. She smiled thinking about the way he pampered her last night, catered to all her physical needs and delighting in her surrender. The bond between them had been instantaneous love at first sight.

Speaking of babes, an image of a baby girl with her facial features and Phillip’s wavy black hair and gray eyes greeted her. They would make beautiful babies together and she had no doubt Phillip would be a wonderful father.

“Are you all packed and ready to go?” Phillip asked.

“Yep. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. I can’t wait to catch that creep that has been stalking me.”

He frowned. “Don’t remind me, I really don’t like the idea of placing you in danger.”

“Don’t worry Phillip, we already talked about it and we all agreed that this was the best plan and beside Steve’s eagle misses nothing, stop fretting Phillip it will all work out in the end.”

The two weeks had passed and Lorraine returned to work. She was the happiest of women for as soon as they returned, Phillip made sure that a huge rock graced her slender left hand. There wasn’t a day gone by when she didn’t get a congratulations and asked repeatedly if they had set a date as yet. Phillip left Lo to handle the preparation for their upcoming nuptials. She chose the venue, and the catering service with the help of the wedding planner she hired. They had an engagement party to attend thrown by Phillip’s best friend Steve. The party was going on when they arrived.

For a recluse Steve sure knew how to throw a good party.  The house was crowded and if parking hadn’t been secured for them, they would never had made it in to their own party. Waiters with trays of champagne and hors d’oeuvres were everywhere serving the guests. The country side club was so crowded they had to open the doors so that the party-goers trickled outside onto the lawns. The chefs had to set up even more tables of food and drinks to handle the crowd as every hand was needed. Overall the party was a roaring success. The crowd parted as the power couple walked through the sea of mostly unfamiliar faces. Everyone smiled while they greeted the guests of honor and congratulated them on their upcoming nuptials.

Steve grabbed the mike and the band of musicians stopped playing. “Thanks for everyone who came out tonight to celebrate more than just a party, but the love and friendship cemented between Phillip and Lorraine. I’m proud to make it official and announce that there is going to be a wedding between these two. Phillip has been my closest friend for years and it’s about damn time he found some happiness and settled down. Lo, I’m leaving him in your capable hands make sure you take good care of him.”

“I will.” Lo shouted and everyone cheered and clapped with joy. The party got back into full swing and Phillip introduced her to so many new faces she had a hard time keeping track of all the faces and names. They were the perfect couple. Lo smiled at Phillip and he returned the smile, often unconsciously entwining his fingers with hers as they circled the room.
