Chapter 3

Destiny woke up in a haze. For a moment she did not know where she was and this sent her into a panic. All she could remember was getting very drunk last night. What had happened after she had gotten drunk? She could not remember at all, and this was concerning because any number of things could have happened to her while she was in her state of inebriation.

She tried to open her eyes but her head was hurting too much. She had drank quite a lot the previous night and it was catching up to her in the form of a dreadful hangover.

She tried to remember the events of the previous night. She had been drinking with that man… Jourdan DuPont. And then she had realized that the club was closing down and she had no idea where Chantal was. And then… Jourdan had offered to drop her home.

She suddenly realized just how dangerous it had been for her to accept his offer. She had no idea who he was or what he was like, and in her drunken state she would not have been able to fight him off if he had tried anything with her.

She got up, forcing the pounding headache from the forefront of her mind and then saw that she was still clothed in the dress that she had been wearing the previous night. She looked next to her and saw that no one was there. She looked around the room, the headache slowly fading, and then saw him. Jourdan was sitting on a chair in a corner of the room. He was also fully clothed, and when Destiny looked a little closer she saw that he was asleep.

He had not tried anything with her. There she had been, she had been drunk and compliant. She would have done anything he wanted her to. She thought back and realized, with no small amount of embarrassment, that she had kissed Jourdan when they had gotten back. It was the last thing that she remembered. Most men would have taken this as an invitation to have s*x and they would have taken advantage of the fact that she was drunk and would not stop them from doing anything to her but Jourdan… Jourdan had not taken advantage of the situation at all. On the contrary, he had put her to bed and gone to sleep on a chair far away from the bed. He had not even slept next to her, even though Destiny was pretty sure that the chair would not have been a comfortable place to sleep for anyone, especially those used to the finer things in life which Jourdan certainly looked like.

“I feel like I know you,” he said. “I do not usually feel this way after s*x, I tend to be done with it and then I am ready to just move on. It is not a good thing but I do think that I need to change it. This time, however, I do not need to put any effort into wanting to stay. It is like… I do not know. It is like I naturally feel inclined to staying here with you, which is not something that I am all that used to feeling.”
