Destiny

I will call you before visiting, of course, and I will make sure that you are comfortable at all times. I will provide you with food and my servants will make sure that you have absolutely everything that you could possibly want. Does this sound suitable to you?”

Destiny thought about it for a long while. Jourdan was putting so much effort into this, it was endearing. It showed that he really cared about her and wanted her to be happy. It made Destiny feel like he might just be the right man for her. She was not ready to make a commitment yet, of course, but she was not afraid either. She knew that she would be able to handle it if things did not work out.

“So,” said Destiny, “if I spend three months with you and decide that I do not want to be with you, what then?”

“Well,” said Jourdan, “then I am just going to have to swallow my pride. You will be free to go whenever you want of course, you are not going to be a prisoner. You can go out whenever you want and if you ever want to leave just let me know. I think we are going to have to talk about my role in the life of our child before you leave, of course, but that is something that we will talk about when the time comes. Whatever you want to do, you can do it. This is just you giving me a chance to win you over, a chance to prove that I am worthy of your love.”

“Alright,” said Destiny, “I understand.”

She thought about it for a long while. She tried to think of ways in which this could go wrong. She did not want to have to deal with the fallout if this turned out to be a mistake. She trusted Jourdan completely, she knew that he was not going to try anything with her. He was too good a person to do that after all. If he said that she would have her own private little apartment she believed him, and she was not at all scared that he would go back on his word.

There was honestly nothing here that could go wrong. Destiny tried to think of bad situations, but all she could think of were reasons for her to do this.

“Alright,” said Destiny, “I will do this with you. I will give you nine months to prove to me that I should be with you. I think I will be comfortable living at your estate. However, I do not want you to take too much trouble with me. I have my savings, let me get my own food and cook it. You do not need to provide me with food or give me access to your servants or anything like that.”

“Nonsense,” said Jourdan, “you are going to be my guest, I am not going to allow a guest to pay for her own food. You are going to eat the food I have made for you and that is final! You can tell me if you have any preferences or allergies and I will make sure that my cook knows about these. Do not you worry, you are going to be very comfortable at my estate, I will make sure of it.”

Destiny laughed and said, “Fair enough, I guess I understand why you want to feed me. I will take maternity leave from the airline, then, I will call in and come back here in a week.”

“Nonsense once again!” said Jourdan with a mischievous smile. “You are going to come back to my estate with me right now, and we are going to start our little test. You can call in today and tell your airline that you can’t make it to work because you need maternity leave.”

“Fine,” said Destiny, trying to stifle a chuckle at Jourdan’s insistent behavior. She was having quite a bit of fun, and she honestly was not going to mind being spoiled by this man. The worst case scenario was that she would not be able to be with him and she would leave, and in this scenario she would at least have spent some time being pampered by him. If she did love him, she would stay with him, and that was the best option of all.

All in all, Destiny was very excited about what the future was going to bring, and this was very different from the stress she had been feeling only an hour ago.
