Chapter 5
Destiny got off of her plane feeling ridiculously nervous. She had not felt this way in quite some time, and now that she was feeling this way she could tell that she was not able to deal with stressful situations too well.
She walked around the airport, starting to pace as she went over what she planned to say to Jourdan. She had decided that she would call him and ask him to meet her somewhere. She did not want him to think that she was just trying to get a look at his estate. She wanted to just tell him what he needed to know and be on her way.
Now that she was in France, the whole situation started to seem even more real than it had seemed before. It was almost like she was floating through someone else’s dream.
Yet again, she rehearsed what she had been thinking of saying to Jourdan. She played it again and again in her head and tried to imagine different possibilities. It was impossible, however. She could not picture any situation where she would be able to say the right thing. Everything just seemed like one mistake after another, she felt like she was a complete and utter failure.
She sighed and decided to call Jourdan. Now that she was in Paris there was no reason for her to delay anything. All she had to do was dial his number and ask him to meet her. She had been scared of the fact that he might not be in Paris when she was there. After all, he was a very rich man and probably traveled a lot. She had considered calling him before heading out but the thought of doing so seemed to give her even more stress than she would otherwise feel if she just went to Paris and talked to him then and there. All she could think about was the fact that she was going to tell Jourdan that she was pregnant with his child.
She looked at her phone, thinking once, twice and then a third time before finally dialing his number. The call went through, and then Destiny heard his voice.
“Hello there,” said Jourdan. “Are you in Paris already? I was not expecting you here for at least a couple of more weeks.”
“I decided to visit,” said Destiny flatly. “Listen, I need to talk to you about something, It is really important. Can you meet me today? I am here until tomorrow, and I really need to discuss something important with you. I know that I am not giving you much, I know that I am not telling you all that you need to know, but trust me when I say that I am not doing this to stress you out, I really do need to talk to you right now.”
“Alright,” said Jourdan, “Alright, yes, I can meet you today. I can meet you right now in fact. Where are you at the moment?”
“I am at the airport,” said Destiny.
“You called me as soon as you got off of the flight?” asked Jourdan. “Is everything okay?”
“Yes,” said Destiny impatiently, “I just really need to see you.”
“Okay,” said Jourdan. “I can come and pick you up right now. I am nearby for some work, but I can free myself up immediately and come and see you. Come to the departure gate, alright? I shall pick you up from there.”
“Alright,” said Destiny, “thank you for this. I am sorry that I am just… you know… forcing you to come and see me like this. I really do not want to behave this way but just… I mean… I guess you’ll realize why I am being so anxious when you meet me and I finally tell you what I have to say.”
Jourdan said, “Okay. I will be there in fifteen minutes okay?”
“Okay,” said Destiny. “See you soon.”
She cut the call and sighed. She had no idea what she was going to do. He was going to be here in fifteen minutes, but she did not know how she was going to spend those fifteen minutes. How could she possibly spend that much time alone? She realized that this was just fifteen minutes they were talking about here, but in spite of the shortness of her wait she could not help but feel stressed out.
She managed to spend that time pacing and wondering if what she was about to say to Jourdan was the right thing to say when her phone rang. She saw that it was Jourdan. She answered and he told her to come to the departure gate.
Destiny exited the airport and saw that Jourdan was right there waiting for her. He was wearing a maroon blazer with dark brown pants and a black shirt, and he looked absolutely fantastic. She walked up to him and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back.
“Let us go,” said Jourdan. “I will buy you lunch while you tell me whatever it is that you need to tell me.”
They went to a nearby café and Chantal sat down next to Jourdan as they ordered lunch. She was not really hungry but she did not want to worry Jourdan so she decided to eat anyway.
“Now,” said Jourdan, “what is it that you have to tell me?”
“I… I do not know how to start,” said Destiny. “I guess I will just say it. I am pregnant Jourdan. The child is yours, I am sure of it. I have not had s*x with anyone else in months.”
Jourdan looked as if someone had hit him across the head with a frying pan. He did not say anything and this worried Destiny so she kept on babbling.
“I do not expect anything from you,” she said. “I do not expect you to give me money or even be a part of my life or this child’s life. That choice is yours to make, and yours alone. No one can force you to make any decision at all. But I just… I just want you to know that I would appreciate it if you just tell me how you feel right now. I swear, the only reason I came here to talk to you was because I felt like you had a right to know. I am not getting an abortion, I do not want to do that, which means that I am going to keep the child. And that means that there is going to be a child in this world that is born of your sperm, your own offspring. That is why I am here, I swear I do not want or expect anything from you at all.”

“You are… you are pregnant?” asked Jourdan.
“I… yes I am,” said Destiny, confused. She had a feeling that Jourdan was completely dazed by this reveal, and that he had no idea how to react. “Did you hear anything I just said or had you blanked out?”
“No I… I heard you,” said Jourdan, “I just… I can’t believe it…”
He looked at her and said, “You are so beautiful. This is… such great news!”
“What?” asked Destiny, completely shocked by Jourdan’s reaction. She had expected resentment, surprise, anger, maybe grief, maybe she had expected a nervous acceptance of what was happening, but she had not at all expected excitement from his end. What was this? He was not the type of person to settle down, why was he behaving this way?
