After a few minutes, Vance walked over to make sure she was okay. He pinched her on the leg again and kissed her on the neck.
“How are you feeling girl?”
“I’m alright,” Janelle said, kicking her legs back and forth. “It’s a bit stuffy in here.”
Vance leaned in close and bit the apple of her cheek. “Let’s go out to the pool. Curtis?” he asked.
“Yeah?” Curtis responded distractedly. He was playing a video game that involved a lot of shooting and screaming.
“You coming bro? We’re going outside.”
“Sure thing. Ah sh*t! Okay, I’m coming.” He tossed his controller across the room and followed them out to the pool.
It was still light out, and the sun wouldn’t be setting for a few hours. Janelle told the boys she wanted to sit by the pool and watch them have their fun. She didn’t want to go swimming just yet, as the doctor told her not to do anything strenuous for fear of hurting her head. She sat down on one of the brightly colored lounge chairs and watched as Curtis and Vance pushed each other into the pool. They reminded her of a couple of wolf cubs, still so young and innocent about the world and its inhabitants.
“You look like an exotic princess,” Curtis shouted at her before Vance dunked him under water.
“That wasn’t very nice,” Janelle said.
“I’m sorry,” Vance responded, pouting.
Janelle laughed and leaned back in the chair.

Janelle was enjoying her night off, though she didn’t go swimming at all. The doctor had told her not to do anything too chaotic while she was recovering from the concussion. The Band-Aid had come off her forehead and there was now a small red scab forming over the concussion.
She couldn’t believe the luck she’d had with finding both Vance and Curtis to take care of her. They were both such passionate lovers, and such interesting people. Janelle thought back on when they were first entering into the courtship, how nervous she had been.
For some reason, standing up to Monique had helped her to confront her own past problems. Though Mads was off courting another guy, at least Janelle had her two new friends to help her through any problems that might arise. She knew that this wasn’t the end, and that things might become more complicated in the future, but that was okay.

Though Janelle had no way of knowing it at the time, her relationship with Vance and Curtis was about to get a whole lot more intimate. The trio would wind up announcing that they were in a committed relationship with one another, regardless of what everyone else thought.
She would eventually introduce the two of them to her father, and he would surprise her by supporting her completely. Even now, as she was lying in bed with the two of them, she knew that they were destined for greatness.
Vance’s music video would be coming out soon and Janelle had signed a contract to be a full time dancer with him. The other girls would be jealous at first, but it didn’t matter much in the long run. She’d go on to be a brilliant hip-hop dancer, all under the careful guidance of Vance and his instructor. Janelle was finally fulfilling her destiny as an artist. She knew her mother was watching, and that she was proud. While at first she had been ashamed to be wearing the cross necklace while having s*x, she eventually made peace with the fact that her mother was always with her.
Curtis eventually fell asleep next to the pool in one of the thick purple chairs. Janelle fell asleep in the bed with Vance. When they woke up the next day, Curtis wasn’t angry but happy. He cooked breakfast for all of them, but Vance had to eat quickly because he needed to be at the studio earlier than everyone else. Janelle had at least an hour to kill, so she remained laid back and hung out in Curtis’s kitchen for an hour. He let her use his shower and cooked her a second plate of bacon and eggs.
She kissed him on the cheek when it was time to go, knowing that if she was late to the studio that Vance would punish her for it later.
“Do you want to hang out tonight?” Curtis asked as Janelle was getting dressed.
“Of course. What were you thinking?”
“Maybe dinner and a movie? There’s a new horror film out that Vance has been raving about. We could go to a drive through or something, it could be a lot of fun.”
“That sounds great to me. I’ll be out of work early but Vance won’t be out till around seven.”
Curtis smiled. “Sounds good to me. Hey, Janelle?”
“Yeah?”
“I wanted to thank you for letting me stick around even though I freaked out the other night. I really care about you. You’re beautiful, and talented. I know Vance feels the same way. We were talking last night about how we both find you to be the most incredible woman we’ve ever met.”
“Thank you,” Janelle said quietly. She wasn’t good with compliments, and wasn’t sure what to say back to Curtis. “I really appreciate the two of you getting along.”
“Vance isn’t so bad once you get used to him. Plus he’s a pretty great guy. I think we’ll become even closer as time goes on. Who knows?” he said, winking at Janelle.
She blushed. Curtis always had a way of making her feel so nervous that she just had to blush at everything he said. When she thought back on it, Vance had made her feel the same way. It was like being back in high school—she was the cheerleader adored by everyone. But luckily for Janelle, she had some new found confidence and curves to accompany her inflated attitude. She laughed just thinking about it.

“I’ll see you tonight, okay?” Janelle said, kissing Curtis on the cheek. He pulled her in tight and kissed her softly on the lips.
“Until later,” he said.
She checked her phone on the way into work and realized Vance had texted her.
“See you soon beautiful,” the text read. Janelle smiled and stared up at the clear blue sky. It was going to be a good day.
The end.
