I felt a tear fall down my face. This was the end. There was no turning back.

“Well I hope you have a nice life Ryan,” I stated.

“I hope you do too. Whatever it is you want to do.”

I hung up the phone, sadness hanging over me. Donte got up and pulled me into his arms. I started to sob, my body shaking with sadness. He hugged me tighter, drawing circles on my back. We stayed like that for about five minutes before I pulled away.

“Did I do the right thing?” I asked.

“You did. It’s hard, but it had to be done. I’m here for you though Alice. It’s the start of a new life. Plus, he didn’t seem to accept you at all. I think it’s best that you left him,” he replied.

I agreed. This was the end. I got rid of everything that reminded me of him. I grabbed a bag and put all of the valuables I had in there. It would work for now, and I knew that it’s for the best. I decided to just give up on even trying to have a relationship with him.

Donte made me feel happy. I didn’t feel like he was trying to guilt trip me at all. He seemed understanding when he helped me. We were able to leave the house the way it was when I entered. I grabbed a couple of clothes to change into. I still had no idea where we were going.

“Where are we heading to anyways?” I asked. I was scared about where we were going. Was it going to take a while to get there?

“The person who knows how to turn people back into their human form is in Wisconsin. So I guess it’ll be a few days before we even get there. But I do want to take it slow, in case Raphael and the other vampires try anything. I’m still wary, but I think we’ll be fine,” he explained.

I nodded. I guess we were heading there then. The drive should take us about three days, but I knew that Donte wanted to take things in a slow and steady manner when it came to that. I guess we’ll just have to be careful. I grabbed the rest of my things along with the spare car key. We would have to go back to the park to get the car.

I was shocked that it was still in the place I left it. Granted, the police never checked that park out, and most of the time they didn’t care. It was the businesses that did, and they only enforced the rules the business had. I know that it would be fine to leave this place, but I was still scared. What was going to happen?

I unlocked the car and got inside. I still had a full tank of gas, and everything I needed was in the back. Donte sat in the passenger’s seat, looking at me with a fixed gaze.

“You ready to get out of here?” he asked.

I nodded. I had to do what I had to do.

“Yes. Let’s go find that cure and get our lives back.”
