“I’m starving,” Janelle said as she wrapped a towel around herself. “Dinner?”
“Up to you. We can go out or I can cook.”
“Let’s go out later,” she said quickly, “I don’t want to leave this room for the next few hours.”
“We’ve got all of the time in the world,” Reece said as he lifted her chin. He placed a kiss on her lips. “Cooking it is. Want to help me?”
“You know it.”
They both changed into comfortable clothes before they walked into the kitchen. Reece reached into the refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of champagne. Two champagne glasses were retrieved from the freezer before he filled them both.
“To us,” Janelle said.
“To us,” he repeated.
They clinked their glasses together as they grinned. Both of them took deep sips. Janelle sat on top of the counter as Reece began to pull out ingredients for dinner.
Janelle watched him with a smile on her lips. Even after everything that had happened, she couldn’t believe that they had made it here. Still, she wouldn’t take back a single moment of it, that she knew for sure.

When he’d taken everything out on the counter, Reece pulled out the cutting board. He started chopping mushrooms and peppers. She knew he’d wait to do the onions until she walked out of the room. Janelle hated the way they smelled raw. Happily, Janelle kicked her legs and sipped at her champagne.
“I don’t think that’s the right stuff,” she said with a grin. “Are you sure you got everything?”
“Just do your job and judge the food,” he replied.
Reece kissed her and she smiled.
