“Well, that’s almost midday and in another part of the world it is already evening,” Leon said with a superior smirk that made her wonder how she ever cared for him. His smile faded when he saw the icy look Desiree was giving him. “Some juice then, huh? I have orange juice. I remember how much you loved orange juice,” he said as he took a bottle of juice from the fridge and poured it into two glasses. Desiree looked at him as he walked towards her carrying the two drinks. “Please,” he said as he held the glass to her. Desiree sighed and took the glass from him before, suddenly thirsty, she took a long gulp. “So, I gather you are here because you got my email?” he asked.
“And your text,” she said as she as she seated herself, firmly upright, on the couch.
“And?” he asked, his left eyebrow slightly arched.

“And? Are you serious?” she asked angrily. “Let me tell you something Leon. You have to stop this madness. You have to stop following me to work, sending presents and texting me because I will never come back to you, Leon ever. You need to know that and accept it,” she said suddenly jumping up from the couch and looking him firmly in his slightly bloodshot eyes.
“Dee, you cannot mean that. We spent two years loving each other, living a full life together,” he said, in the manner of someone reproaching an errant child. She shook her head as she looked at him.
“We spent two years living a lie, Leon. The man I loved for all that time is hardly the man who I am looking at. He never told me that he was married or that he had a family. I had to find that out in the most embarrassing way possible. Tell me, what would have happened if I would have come to your place one day and bumped into your innocent family?” she asked. She suddenly remembered that, during their relationship, she had his address, albeit an empty, slightly decaying, one he claimed to be living in while his ‘luxurious’ apartment was being renovated . No one else ever knew of that apartment. “But that wouldn’t have happened, right Leon? Because even your address was a lie,” she said sadly. Leon looked at her and shook his head.
“Dee, I regret everything I ever did because I know now that I should have been the man you saw within me. I would happily give up everything just to be with you,” he said.
“Giving up your family is not a good thing, Leon. Your children need you and I will not be the woman they identify as the one who wrecked their home, and Leon, this ship, you and me, it sailed a long time ago,” Desiree said. “You need to go back home or just move on with your life because we are never getting back together Leon,” she said, almost hissing the word in her controlled fury. She put the glass on the table and began walking towards the elevator. She pressed the button and stood there with her back to him, waiting impatiently for the doors to open. The elevator doors were about to, when she suddenly felt Leon’s deceptively powerful hands on her shoulders. She took a long breath and sighed in exasperation before turning around. Leon slipped an arm around her and pulled her close. She hardly had any time to protest before he put his lips on her, possessing her with one long lingering and strangely gentle kiss.
